Event Description

Dhruv, one of our co-founders, and his other half Vidhi, cordially invite you to grace their beautiful pre-wedding celebrations at a Sangeet Night in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with your presence. Join them in their celebrations, watch and dance along in the comfort of your home.

What is a Sangeet Night in an Indian wedding?

Among the many pre-wedding events that occur prior to the North Indian wedding ceremonies, the Sangeet is where the party begins. The word 'Sangeet' translates from Sanskrit to ‘sung together’, and is also used to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding.

This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. This celebration includes dances performed by relatives and friends of the Bride and Groom, songs by the elder female members of the family sung in unison with the bride as the focal point, and an open dance floor to commemorate the festivities for the following days.

The Sangeet ceremony usually takes place two or three days prior to the wedding, before the Mehndi ceremony. In earlier times, the Sangeet would last for 10 days, celebrating up until the wedding day. However, over time this tradition boiled down to a one day function in order to fit all of the wedding events into one week. It may be held in a huge hall to accommodate all wedding guests, or it may be a small affair at the bride’s home. But most of the sangeet parties these days are huge and loud, every bit like a reception but super fun.

You are invited to join #DhruVi's Sangeet Night online!
