Melanie will present an informative and fun talk to appeal to garden lovers - and arm-chair gardeners! Originally commissioned to provide an English gardening group with ideas of places to visit in Belgium, Melanie's talk concentrates on simply Flanders but she assures us that we will see a wide variety of gardening in this seemingly tiny area. Visit hidden city gardens, the National Botanical Garden, renowned orchards, the Royal Greenhouses, a lost medieval village, traces of the First World War, and even a corner of Japan in Flanders to illustrate the distinctive style of Flemish gardening derived from their culture.

Meet The Speaker, Melanie
From being an enjoyable part-time ‘hobby’ the repeat bookings for Melanie Gibson-Barton's talks grew to such an extent that she gave up her 'day job' to become a full-time speaker. Many of her talks have been commissioned by previous audiences for commemorative occasions.
Preparing for the Event
For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).
We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!
