Sit in an old church and you will be surrounded by images of murder, sex and mayhem! This talk looks at a variety of images and inscriptions in churches that depict grisly deaths, accidents, murders, and an amazing amount of sexual activity! We will hear stories of a murdered missionary; a seventeenth-century coach crash; a flying man and warnings against having sex with animals! This popular lecture is the result of over four decades of research during which time John has visited over 13,000 churches in England and Wales.
