Maud's Story: The Life of a Norfolk Trading Wherry

Talks - History; Talks - General Interest

Event Description

This presentation by Linda Pargeter tells “Maud’s” story. “Maud” is a traditional trading wherry that once sailed the rivers and broads of Norfolk carrying 40 tons. Linda introduces the different types of wherry sailing today and then recounts the story of “Maud” from her initial build to a watery grave, followed by her rescue and 18-year restoration to the beautiful vessel she is today. “Maud’s” place in history is recognized by her inclusion in the National Historic Fleet. The talk is well illustrated with around 60 photographs and will appeal to a wide audience.
