Fiona Hosford

Meet The Speaker, Fiona

Gaining extensive experience performing throughout the UK and abroad for over 20 years, Fiona Hosford LSRM BA (Hons) is a gifted and experienced harpist based in the South East of England. Fiona also studied the piano, violin, and singing but when she began the Harp at age 6 it soon became apparent that the other instruments were secondary to the Harp.

Fiona enjoys putting the aspects of her well-traveled experiences into her vast repertoire, which ranges from Classical through to her love of Jazz. With her varied repertoire, she has delighted a wide range of clients with her soothing and uplifting music and her statuesque gold harp has added an air of refinement and relaxation.

Often described as the most friendly, ‘normal’ Harpist about, with a strong sense of humour and a sympathetic musical ear, Fiona ensures that your musical tastes are adhered to and is flexible and thoughtful in her approach.

Preparing for the Event

For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).

We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!

I enjoyed this very much; an inspired choice of music, beautifully played. I look forward to another opportunity to hear her play somewhere.

What a delightfully engaging person is Fiona! I thoroughly enjoyed her programme of music and was astounded at her wide-ranging musical genres. Such a bubbly personality and obvious dedication to her harps. I do hope you will engage her for more Friday afternoon concerts and if you do, I request an afternoon of jazz and especially Dave Brubeck!!

This was a lovely and well-constructed programme, with familiar pieces and less well known items. It would just have been nice if we could have had a singer sing a couple of songs halfway through for a change of emphasis., or if there could have been visuals of beautiful scenery occasionally. Fiona’s pleasant personality came through very much in the Q&A. It would be great to have her back some time.

Well selected, and wonderfully varied, program containing something for everyone. The harpist has a very warm personality which shines through her beautiful playing and also during Q&A. Definitely recommend.

Thank you Fiona for a very enjoyable afternoon. I was interested in the facts you gave about the instrument and the pieces chosen. I particularly enjoyed "Cavatina" it was good to hear the music on a different instrument to the usual. Very good value for the money. More please.

This was such a treat - Fiona is an engaging communicator as well as a consummate musician and performer. Her sharing of her knowledge during and following the concert added to the enjoyment. Please arrange more concerts from Fiona Hosford - I owuld happily pay more. I do hope Fiona was not aware of the ill-mannered woman who failed to switch off her camera in order to stay on her phone for the final 15-20 minutes ; I found it very distracting as well as extraordinarily impolite to the harpist and inconsiderate to the rest of us in the audience. Strangely, the woman finished her phone call in time for the Q&A - maybe she just doesn't like music. would it be a good idea to remind people to swich off their cameras if they feel the need to take or make a phone call during the performance?( If Mirthy want to contact the woman concerned, I made a note of the name.)
