Then this talk is for you - exploring the development of the English country house and discovering the little clues in design and furnishing that will bring our visits to life. By looking at the architecture, design and furnishing of historic houses we follow the customs and fashions of the past 400 years to find out even more about people and places in our history. This amusing lecture includes exploding cakes, magnificent marquesses and tight hostesses!

John Vigar

Meet The Speaker, John

John has been a professional historian and speaker for over 40 years. For much of that time, John also taught at the University of Kent as well as for the WEA and Denman College. His specialist subject is ecclesiology – the study of church architecture and associated topics.
