A Chip off Queen Victoria's Block

Talks - History; Talks - Arts and Culture; Talks - General Interest

Event Description

We think we all know about Queen Victoria and her family but in this talk John will introduce you to her little-known nephew Count Gleichen and his two unwaveringly feminist daughters who became prominent sculptors, working from their studio in St James Palace. Well known during their lifetimes, and adored members of the Royal Family, this talk will introduce you to their family history, extraordinary life and surviving works. The result of ten years of primary research, including privileged access granted by HM The Queen, you won't find this story told elsewhere!

  • Duration: 45 mins
  • Online Zoom Event: An event held in person

For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).

We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!
