We tell stories all the time, about what we have done or not done, the stories we have heard from others, those we have read or simply remembered. The Storytelling Café is an opportunity to both share stories and listen to them.
January can be a long dark cold month, the third Monday of the month is said to be the most depressing day of the year. So this month's storytelling cafe is focussing on stories about overcoming adversity, about how someone triumphed over difficulties, about how being positive can change a mindset and plans and plots for a good 2022.
Bring a story to tell to the group, or simply come to listen to a collection of stories from fellow Mirthy members.

Meet the Host, Sandy
Sandy Leong is an historian, passionate about bringing history to life and is a lively and entertaining speaker. She has a popular series of entertaining, light hearted talks on general historical subjects. However she specialises in the Tudors, an exciting time in the country as it was changing fast; and in the Viking period, who are much more than the stereotype of raiders in horned helmets. She is an international, professional speaker, and published author.
Sandy got us thinking about where we live and then a story about dragons and concurring fear. I felt comfortable to share my thoughts and hear some interesting stuff from other participants. Sandy instilled me with the confidence to keep listening and telling stories.
Retirement? Mmmm, I remember the idea but......
I really enjoyed meeting Sandie & the other people. The talk & interaction was very interesting & relevant to the season. It is so important that we have the opportunity to do things like this, particularly if unable to meet up outside the home at this odd time. Sandie was very friendly and made us all feel welcome. She was reassuring about the use of Zoom for those who were new to it. I shall look forward to joining more talks & events, as & when I am able. Retirement? Mmmm, I remember the idea but......
