Event Description
This exclusive online event, hosted by an expert guide from Jane Austen’s House, will use our beautiful virtual tour to show you around the House and outbuildings. It was in this pretty Hampshire cottage that Jane Austen revised, wrote and had published all six of her treasured novels. You can step back in time and follow in Jane's footsteps, see the rooms where she composed her books and created her timeless characters, explore her home, discover objects that belonged to her and wander in the beautiful cottage garden. This will be a virtual tour with lots of opportunities to chat and to ask questions.

Meet the Host, Jane Austen's House
Jane Austen’s House in Chawton, Hampshire, was Jane Austen's final home. She lived here for the last eight years of her life, from July 1798 until May 1817. In this house her genius flourished, as she revised, wrote and published her six extraordinary novels: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.
Today, Jane Austen’s House is a Grade I listed building, an accredited Museum, and one of the most important literary sites in the world. It holds an important collection of objects associated with Jane Austen, including her jewellery, first editions of her books, furniture, textiles and the table at which she wrote her much-loved novels.

What if I can’t make the event?
If a recording’s available for the event, you can still register for it and we will send you an email with a link to a recording shortly after it ends.
Will my camera be on and will I be visible to the other people?
Your camera and microphone does not need to be on for you to enjoy the event. The choice about whether to do this is completely yours.
How do I watch the live event?
Rest Less events are hosted on Zoom, a computer application that allows you to attend online events just by clicking a link. For detailed instructions, please go to our "FAQ" page, which you can find a link to in the nav bar at the top of the page.
How do I sign-up for and access the recording? (Recorded events only)
Book the event as normal (as if you are attending live). After the event ends you will automatically receive a post-event email with a link to the recording, as long as the event was recorded. You do not need to do anything else and there is no separate booking process for recordings only. Please note it can take up to 24 hours for Zoom to process recordings.
