Event Description

Combining the beautiful barre ballet technique, with a delicate contemporary flow. This class is aimed at all abilities, with a variety of options within the class to work to your own level and improve at your own pace.

This is designed to be practical in minimal space, as most of the exercises will be done on the spot, utilising the feet, and working on balance and the calf and leg muscles, as well as dancers' postural alignment and grace. This class will make you feel revived and strong, whilst working to align the body with core and fundamental dance techniques. The contemporary dance exercises will combine some choreography to use the exercises that have been explored.

Meet the Host, Lucia

After attending an Oxfordshire based dance school, and studying dance, acting and singing, Lucia became a vocal and dance coach working with a variety of ages and abilities. As a professional performer, she has also choreographed many dance group numbers for different musical shows and has toured with a number of different companies.

In the last few years, alongside taking on dance roles for the BBC and other independent gigs, she started dancing with South West Dance Theatre, performing and choreographing group numbers, solo and duo. She has also taught at other Bristol based dance companies including A + E dance and fitness, and list of life.

Now with 9 years teaching and performance experience, she is excited to bring her eclectic training and teaching methods to Mirthy, to offer weekly high quality barre/ contemporary lessons to work on inner core, strength and dance musicality through flow and technique, alongside separate jazz dance workshops bringing her musical theatre experience to the workshops for fun upbeat choreography.

Preparing for the Event

For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).

We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!
