I’m glad I found you. I said this to my wife - without Mirthy, my life would be far less richer than it is now.

Event Description

The Mediterranean has been home to some of the world’s most accomplished artists. And it’s the glimpse into their personal lives - their homes, studios, and galleries - that we will explore in this presentation, looking mainly at Modern art which includes artistic work produced during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to the 1970s. We will explore the work of artists like Joan Miro, Picasso, Matisse, and Van Gogh, who pushed the limits of traditional notions of "art" and corresponded to the similar rapid changes that were taking place in human society, technology, and thought.

  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Online Zoom event: Join from your computer, phone or tablet (no replay available)
Malcolm Meadows

Meet the Host, Malcolm

Malcolm began his career as a pharmaceutical apprentice at the age of 15 in 1948, the same time as the introduction of the National Health Service. Following his graduation with a degree in Pharmacy, his work took him to many parts of Britain including 17 years in Salisbury where he was very much involved with the Cathedral and life of the city.

Throughout his career, Malcolm has always had a keen interest in Art, History, and Music so following his retirement he was able to develop these interests to give illustrated lectures to numerous local groups including Rotary, U3A, and WI’s, and for the past 6 years has also given presentations on Cruise ships with Saga and Fred Olsen, sailing to exotic destinations around the World. His presentations are always compiled for as wide an audience as possible and include an amazing collection of images and usually incorporate musical interludes to accompany the subject.

Preparing for the Event

For the best experience, you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your computer. Please ensure you're connected to broadband/wifi rather than using your mobile phone connection (3G/4G).

We also recommend that pets are either calmly sitting on your lap or in another room, and any refreshments you may require are within your reach!
